- One month of doxycycline (antibiotic) treatment to decrease the damage caused by the worms.
- Monthly Heartgard chewable tablet.
- Steroids before the immiticide (worm-killing) injections if clinical signs (coughing, exercise intolerance, sudden decrease in activity) are present.
- Two or three injections of the immiticide depending on health of dog.
- Pain medications during the injections and after the injections.
- Steroids after the injections.
